Spend an autumn afternoon exploring the treasures of Harlem! We’ll start our Harlem Renaissance-themed walking tour at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, the world’s leading research library documenting the history and cultural development of African-Americans. You'll see two new exhibitions, “Jimmy! God's Black Revolutionary Mouth,” which features fascinating papers and photographs from the late, great James Baldwin’s own archives, and “Visibility & Resistance: New Acquisitions of Contemporary Afro-Mexican Photography.” Our walk will end at the classic Southern comfort-style restaurant Sylvia’s for an early dinner (included). Then we'll take a quick bus ride to the Convent Avenue Baptist Church for a soulful gospel concert before returning home. Please be prepared to donate at least $5 per person to the collection plate at the church.
