In the Philippines, the young and the old love paper folding. They feel a sense of connectivity with their family and community, by folding single sheets of paper to beautiful objects - presenting thoughtful and handmade gifts for loved ones.
Paper folding is an enjoyable, creative, and meditative art form: transforming flat pieces of paper to three-dimensional objects. Through hands-on demonstrations and one-on-one instructions, students learn and make simple to intricate structures in shapes of toys, flowers, birds, and utilitarian objects.
An accessible art, suitable for beginners and experienced folders, paper folding promotes mindfulness and relaxation; and improves fine and gross motor skills, spatial perception, and other cognitive benefits.
